We used to have these nothing-over-$20 sales on Friday nights, which were a great excuse to have a party! We created sculptural, theatric “nightclubby” pieces out of everyday materials such as rubber, papier mâché, balsa, plastic, or brass – the jewellery ethic was to be accessible, to debunk the elite, to provide a contrast to the practice of using precious metals and gems. These Friday nights were huge, dramatic – just fabulous. We were in the right spot at the right time.
