CELEBRATING 85 YEARS

Since 1923 Brisbane Arcade has been one of the city’s most popular shopping destinations, recognised as the place to find timeless, quality goods and services from experts in their fields.

 It is also fondly remembered for its unique specialist retailers that have over the years included a beautifully presented cake shop, an umbrella shop and a delightful doily shop.

Brisbane Arcade will celebrate its 85th anniversary with a display of historical photographs that include some of early Queen Street and the Mayne family, the original owners of the Arcade site.  From Friday, visit Brisbane Arcade to take a peek into the past of one of Brisbane’s most fascinating heritage buildings.

MELBOURNE CUP DAY SOFITEL STYLE  

This year Brisbane Arcade will present a stunning parade of the latest designer fashion as part of Melbourne Cup Day celebrations at Sofitel Brisbane Grand Central.

One of the biggest events in the city, Classic Hits 4KQ breakfast crew presenters will host the luncheon and Emirates Airline is giving guests the chance to win return Business Class tickets for two to Europe on the day.


Guests will enjoy French Champagne on arrival, a three course menu, Tulloch wines, a selection of beer and soft drinks and sweeps, Fashions on the Field, prizes and an on-site TAB.

Held at the Sebel and Citigate Hotel on Wednesday 17 September this annual event was a great success again this year with many guests saying it was the ‘best yet’.

Miranda Deakin from Channel 9 was fabulous as MC, Pam Tamblyn hosted a gorgeous parade of the latest Brisbane Arcade Spring-Summer fashion and models’ hair was stunning and stylish by Zash Hair Design.

Thanks to the generosity of many Brisbane Arcade stores that provided auction and raffle prizes for the event, significant funds were raised for ovarian cancer research at the MMRI (Mater Medical Research Institute).
