HISTORY
Brisbane Arcade is one of the oldest shopping Arcades in Brisbane and certainly the only one still in its original form.
Built in 1923 for Dr James Mayne and his sister Miss Mary Emelia Mayne, Brisbane Arcade is heritage listed and is packed with architectural features befitting a traditional European shopping arcade.
Brisbane Arcade continues to be operated today in its original form by the Trustees of the Mayne siblings' estate and operating proceeds benefit the University of Queensland Medical School and Medical Research.
LOCATION
Brisbane Arcade marks its location on the
Queen Street Mall in the heart of The City with everyone's favourite
chocolate shop Darrell Lea. The arcade runs from the Queen
Street Mall through to Adelaide Street and is situated at the Edward
Street end of the city.
It's a short work from Central Station and
the best place to park is King George Square, just over the road
from the Adelaide Street entrance. For a location map ...
